A Quick Review Of The Medifast Ice Cream (An Overview Of Taste, Texture, Nutrition, And Cost)
I’ve started to get a lot of questions about some of the new Medifast products and foods. Recently, the company added Soft Serve Ice Cream, brownies, and pancakes to their food options. This article is going to provide some information on the soft serve ice cream. I’ll go over the taste, texture, and cost. I’ll also discuss the nutritional content as well as how many carbs, calories, fats, and proteins it contains.
What Does The Medifast Ice Cream Taste Like?: Actually, people have been Making Ice Cream out of the Medifast pudding for a while now. But, I find that this ready made product is better than my home made version. (It’s also easier.) You do have to mix the product up in your health mate or small blender. (Any decent blender should work.) The texture is that of serve serve rather than traditional store brought ice cream. It’s thicker than the pudding but it’s not completely frozen or hard.
There are some really nice flavors here that go beyond vanilla and chocolate. Right now, the flavors are chocolate mint, peanut butter (my favorite,) coffee (which I suspect is very popular,) and mango. Now, onto the taste. This product isn’t as sweet as store bought and higher fat brands. If you’ve had the Medifast puddings or shakes, you know that they’re sweet and light enough to not taste overwhelming or heavy. The same is true here. There’s a nice sweetness that isn’t artificial and isn’t too much. Also, as you might expect, this product is lighter in texture than those cream desserts which rely upon heavy creams and dairy products. This food contains a lot of whey protein, but it’s lactose and gluten free and is suitable for vegetarians.
Nutritional Information: If you’ve been researching or have been on this diet, you probably already know that they like to keep the meals around 100 – 110 calories each. This meals falls right in line with that. It contains 110 calories, and only twenty of those is from fat. The ice cream contains a very respectable 11 grams of protein and 14 grams of carbs. There are 4 grams of fiber and only 8 grams of sugar. Like most of the foods, it has over twenty percent of most of the daily recommended vitamins and minerals, so it’s nutritionally sound.
How Much Does It Cost?: A box that contains seven servings (which would last you a week if you were having one per day) is $16.25. This puts the cost at around $2.40 each. Right now, this product isn’t included in your typical 5 plus 1 package, but I suppose that could change. I usually add on a few treats (mostly sweets) to my monthly order. It’s worth it to me to have something different and this one is, at least to me, a keeper. As I’ve alluded to before, most of us dieters have been making on our own ice cream for quite a while, but this is better and even easier in my opinion.
