Cream Maker Ice

About Ice Cream Makers by Allaric Saltzman
Whenever you go to an Ice Cream Parlor and have your favorite ice cream, have you ever wondered how these cool and delicious creams are made? These are made from a machine called an Ice Cream Maker. The such maker can be a domestic version or the automatic one specially designed for the parlor.
Same cream maker can be a hand driven by using a crank or electric powered. The manual make is made up of a small bowl inside a larger bowl, the space between them is filled with a mixture of ice and salt. The inner bowl has a crank with a small paddle attached for churning up the mixture. The ice cream mixture is placed inside the inner bowl while the salt and ice is placed in the space in between the outer and the inner bowl. The mixtures is churned with the crank and at the same time, ice outside cools the mixture. This combined action of cooling and the churning makes ice cream. Without the churning the ice cream so made, will be flaky instead of being smooth. Even though these are cheap, it causes problems like cleaning and disposing the salt-ice mixture and problems of replenishment if it melts and become water. The electric model differs from manual model by the cranking mechanism, which driver by electric motor. The process involves the cooling of a double walled in a freezer for 24 hours prior to usage. The cooled double walled is placed and the mixture is placed inside the double and churned using electric driven paddle. The heat is absorbed from the mixture and ice cream is made. Again the disadvantage is that the bowl has to pre frozen before it can be used and only limited number of such creams can be made in a batch.
The modern maker you see in the parlor is much more expensive than their domestic counter parts. These makers have the freezer units built inside so that the need for an external freezer is not there. Along with the freezer unit is the usual electric driven paddle mechanism for stirring the mixture. There is no preparation time and the mixture can be directly poured into the vessel and your creams are ready in 20 to 30 minutes. Table top version of a such makers is also available with all the above features, for home use.
But whatever the maker is, the quality of the ice cream you enjoy does not depend on the machine alone but also on the quality of its ingredients – Milk / Cream and the side ingredients like vanilla, strawberry or chocolate.
